This is a dry, uninspired academic study of the (yawn) history of stairs, etc. Looks like a basic first year arch text. Few photos. I don't need to know the basics of code. I thought from the description that I would get a juicy book with cutting edge stair design and details for a variety of a||s of the 1st edition: 'Alan Blanc, without methodological nervousness, plunges in. The book is well served by numerous clear diagrams and plans... filled with practical realism and down-to-earth detail... a marvellous primer for every student.'
